The Show Must End!!

By Paul Anthony

We all know the saying and that saying is that all good things must come to an end. Well we can use this saying for one of the two shows that we are going to talk about in this blog. As we all know this week brought two big announcements with shows finally coming to an end. We now know that AMC once big hit show The Walking Dead will be ending after season 11 and E’s horrible show Keeping up with The Kardashians will be ending as well after 20 seasons and 14 years on air.

First I want to discuss The Walking Dead because as much as I have bashed the show for dragging the stories way longer than they should have. My hatred for the show wasn’t always there. In the beginning there were great episodes and even thought the Negan story arc was good, but once cast members started to leave and the story arcs began to drag and my interest was lost because it became clear that AMC was just dragging the show, which my guess would be is for the money and the ratings. However at some point the ratings began to drop and we knew at some point the series would end. At first the rumor mill went off with the show ending after season 12 but we now know it will end after 11. Though the show is ending, the franchise will still be around in spin-offs which once again AMC just wants the money, so don’t be shocked if you hear about ratings again taking a hit.

Now we have second show that announced that they are ending their show and that is Keeping Up With The Kardashians which been on air for 14 years! Which one too many for me. If you enjoy watching a rich family get richer for having no true talent or skills or anything like that then this has to be sad news for you but for me this show had no appeal to me and I get it that if a show been on for this long it has to have a large fan base and the viewership is off the roof and what not right? Well wrong the truth shows like this survive on an average size fanbase on a small channel. If your show average is like 3 million people on one of the bigger networks trust me you’ll be canceled. however out of the 3 million, 2.2 million were in the demographic of 18- 49 which is the best group for advertisers. The show made this family even more famous and once again I still catch myself asking what are they famous for? Now without bashing them as I type this blog I haven’t heard if there will be anymore spin-offs because there have been so many as it was.

Regardless of which show you like and don’t like these were shows that have been around for some time, so in the end which show are you overall sad to see end?
