Can you believe its been just over ten years since the Dark Knight came out and created a whole bunch of storylines. Most people thought this movie was ground breaking for the Comic book film genre. Some will even credit this film putting this genre of films on the next level, regardless what people will say we can again say this film was in a league of it’s own. The Story was different, the action was on point and so was the actually acting. With all of these elements and story lines, one thing it could not do was get Nominated for best picture at the Academy award and yet Black Panther was.
Sure The Dark Knight won a bunch of other awards including the academy award for best supporting Actor which Health Ledger won but sadly this was after he passed away which may have had a part in it which said to say but it is also true, yet it wasn’t even in their mind to nominate them for best picture. Now ten years later we another film making a big splash in the award season and that is of course Black Panther. Now in my eyes at a quick glance Black Panther was far below the greatness that The Dark Knight was and still is. Now don’t get it twisted I think Black Panther was a good film with some good acting and actors but nothing truly stood out compared to what the genre is putting out there. But yet they are nominated for best picture which even being nominated is such a high honor. Now Black Panther did change the culture of sorts in Hollywood. This film came out in a time where Hollywood is under fire a lot for White Washing which is a term they used when white people are cast in a non white role. SO yes it did make a impact big time but films are not rewarded for being a culture impact because then you would have to change everything about the award process.
What if Black Panther wins? This would be a billion dollar question and I am very curious to find out because if it does it would be the first comic book film to do so, which is such an high honor and I don’t think it deserves that. Many people will still hold The Dark Knight in high honors and still will call it the best even if Black Panther wins. I am big Marvel fan and would love to see this win go to them, so good luck to Black Panther!

Last Month we saw some big Movie News regarding two franchises and one that is becoming a franchise. Here is why these three films caught our attention, Final Destination is getting rebooted, GhostBusters 3 and Coming to America 2.
Let’s Dive into the reboot of Final destination, This was announced just a few weeks ago in which they officially announced that they would reboot rather then do a sequel. Warners Bros have been playing with this idea since part 5 came out in 2011. The Writing was on the wall for there to be a sixth film. The fifth film Made a decent profit. It grossed 157 million off of a 40 million dollar budget though only 42 million came from the States. Nonetheless the film made money. The numbers for the series have been up and down but each film made money. With the fifth being the highest reviewed film in the series at 62 percent. The series seems to be going strong but yet that was back in 2011 and rebooting a film can be tricking, by the time this film happens it could be ten years, can they recreate the magic or will this just be a waste of time. There is no doubt that this series does have a cult following because the idea was so new but now it is not. If they want to make it work then the film has to be done right and we know that is easier said then done.
In the 80’s and 90’s Eddie Murphy was all over the place, his movies were hits and his stand ups were on fire. Murphy was gold but nowadays he will do anything to keep his name out there. Back in 1988 Murphy starred in the hit comedy film Coming to America. Now new Broke that after thirty years they decided to make a part 2. Certain films shine because stories are a one off thing meaning its better to be one and done and times have changed. Audiences have changed and Murphy isn’t the same. Sure the entire cast is returning but that doesn’t always mean the charm and magic will. Sadly I believe this film won’t recapture the magic like the first film did.
Now the biggest news is the announcement of GhostBusters 3 and no this film won’t be the sequel to the 2016 film, no this is sequel to the first two. This film will have the original cast returning in more then a cameo of a different character, they will be returning as the characters we came to love. This film will act as a passing of the torch film, theam will also feature two boys and two girls learning from the old team. This is what I believe hurt the 2016 film, The women did nothing wriong and was great but it felt like a reboot that we never wanted and with that it underpreformmed and never will get a sequel, The old and new team will hit the theaters in 2020!

This is the weekend of the year where you know the big time movies will be releasing their trailers. We saw a new Avenger trailer and a Toys story 4 trailer and more but there was one that caught my attention not just because they released a full trailer just a few days earlier and that film was Fast and Furious presents Hobbs and Shaw. Don’t get me wrong this trailer had its moments but there were some that just in my eyes were too much.
We know over the last few films, the stunts in these films started to become just unrealistic and but it gives us that OMG type of stuff but this film clearly is now going over the top. In the last few films the team were using cars in more ways then just driving okay I am on board with that but now they have added Super Humans to the franchise. Yes Super Human. I guess they couldn’t find someone as big as the rock to give him someone real to battle instead they have to enhance a character to beat him. Still they didn’t need to go this over the top, now it seems like they are adding a comic book feel to it, which could hurt films 9 and 10.
Next thing is the title, Fast and Furious presents. This sounds stupid to harp on but titles can make and break a film and right now the last thing this film franchise needs is to lose a fan base because the numbers haven’t been there and I know The Fate of the Furious made over a billion dollars but here in the states the film failed to make its budget of 250 million here in the states and that is something that should been concerning.
The final thing is the movie itself, we have learned with the Star Wars is too much of one thing is a bad thing, Let’s be honest this film is basically fast and the furious 8.5 basically the plot is the same as the rest but with fewer main characters so when 9 comes just 7 months after this film comes out.
I’m not trying to bash this movie at all because there are somethings I did like from the trailer. Anything The Rock is in he can make into magic with him being funny and being a great action star. The laughs will come with this film with His Character interacting with Jason Statham character feuding well trying to work together. We know Jason isn’t funny on his own but with the right person he can be. I think it’s these two that will same this film and having them in the final two films will help them earn money.
Of course this all could work and things will be fine but we won’t know until the film comes out in August.

Have you been following the NFL playoffs so far? I have to be honest i have not been. See for me I am a die-hard Pittsburgh fan, so My focus is now on the Pittsburgh Penguins but even so all I am hearing about is Antonio Brown and even for a Pittsburgher I am sick of hearing about it. These playoffs should be about the teams and player who are in the playoffs because it is pretty interesting. In the AFC championship you have Tom Brady and the Patriots vs the Kansas City Chiefs and their young star quarterback Patrick Mahomes, in what could be a passing of the torch game. Then in the NFC Game you have the Staints vs The L.A. Rams which evryone wants that team to do get to the SuperBowl, seems like the talk was people wanted an all L.A. Superbowl well we know that not happeniong this year but yet the main focus is on a guy who isn’t even playing.
Let’s get back to this drama with Brown. It all started with the Staints which the Steelers lost and pretty kicked the Steelers out of the playoffs. However Brown during that game seemed to be unstoppable which is nothing new. Then Tuesday came around and the team held a meeting to vote on the Team M.V.P and Brown didn’t win. The next day Brown leaves practice after a dispute with Big Ben, However Tomlin lied to the media and said Brown hurt his Knee but we later found out the reason why he didn’t play was because basically he was big baby who decided to mispractice and show up to the game and coach said you’re not playing and once again he walked away from the team. He started using Social Media mocking Tomlin and leaving the coach no choice but to come clean about Brown.
We now know Brown feels like the team doesn’t appreciate his talents, so this could comeback to the team M.V.P award. One thing Brown is about is his stats, he doesn’t care about winning or losing just money and stats and that my friend doesn’t make you an M.VP. Steelers team owner and president Art Roony II did a sit down interview and basically said He doesn’t see Brown returning to the team. Which means they are looking to trade him.
I once said the Steelers wouldn’t win much with Brown and sure enough that became true. The team can be better off without because the team is full of leaders so they are good shape. Yes Brown is the best Wide reciever in the game today but remember there is no I in team. That sounds cheesy but it is very much true.

We all love Wrestling and we all know what it is about and how everything is planned out and predetermine. What makes wrestling so great is when the planned is executed it is such a great thing and its hard to tell if the stuff is scripted. However some stunts can go overboard or be down right gross. We now got to witness a stunt that was truly gross and that stunt was a tampon going into someone’s mouth.
No you didn’t misread that I did in fact say a tampon. Priscilla Kelly, who some will remember was in the WWE Mae Young Classic Tournament just last year which mind you she lost in the first round and that pretty much was it, once again the headlines claimed her to be a WWE star which is far from the truth so let’s not get it twisted, this has nothing to do with WWE. Anyway in a Match last month Kelly decided to shove what to be a bloody tampon in her opponent mouth. How do we know it was a tampon? Besides the fact she took it out of her crotch and treated it as a tampon, yes we have good evidence it was a tampon. Not long after the match the video went viral and it gave Kelly the fame she was seeking but as popular as she become, some people aren’t happy about it and rightfully so.
Both WWE and TNA have been giving the women’s wrestling the push they deserve and by having them main Event PPVs and WWE even did their own female PPV, the women have shown they don’t need to be eye candy material to put on a good show and have the fans behind them, so why didn’t Kelly factor this into her planning. Sure the crowd loved it and started to chant Holy Sh*t and you sick f*ck.
The fans who were there may have loved it but most of the wrestling community are pretty much disgusted by her stunt. Names like Gail Kim, Road Dog and Jim Ross are people who are against her and sure she has her supporter in Tommy Dreamer. Now this is the first time I have heard of her and I am sure this will take her career to new heights and get her more bookings because promoters love to draw crowds and right now all eyes are on her. As for her future in WWE well even though they are big leagues of sorts she probably doesn’t have a future with them but then again never say never. If Kelly is smart she will wise up and use the smart light to get better but we will see.

Just last week a video had surface of Drake “fondling” an underage fan on stage. Now when I saw the headlines, I was taken away because Drake is now 32 years old, so I was thinking this just happen because the news is breaking but the headlines regarding this video can be misleading. So I did my research and watched the video. Well the video was actually taken in 2010 when Drake was a young kid himself basically and he was a rookie in the rap game, at this time he was only twenty- three years old.
Now by no means am I defending him, as i said before I did watch the video and I must say it does look creepy as hell but at the same time it look like it was a part of the show that he used the stunt to lead into his next song. It look like harmless fun that he was just goofing around but yet he still looked nervous to do it. The video starts when him picking the girl from the crowd, he hugs her and gives her massage, nothing harmful yet. he then asks her for age and she proceeds to tell him that she is 17. He then starts to make jokes by saying he needs to stop and doesn’t want to go to jail yet but then says he is 23 so it is okay then proceeds to start his song.
I have to wonder does this video deserve this much attention? Better question is does Drake deserve this much backlash that he is getting so far? But as I ask myself those two questions another one comes to mind and that is why did this video take so long to get released? Ten years this person who filmed this video decides to release it to TMZ. And let’s be honest TMZ doesn’t worry about who or why people give them stuff, they just take it and run with it.
Usually when these situations happen people are usually hurting for money and knows they have something that is worth a lot of money. Now I wonder if the girl from the video is coming forward which she can because she is a full grown adult now and tell her side of the story to see how she felt.
What we do know is he is getting bashed over social media and has yet to put out an statement regarding this situation. This story will be ongoing until he or she says something.

Pleased tell me you went out and saw Mortal Engine? If you did then you would one of the few who did. Mortal Engine has already officially became a bomb just in its opening week and honestly who is really surprised? I know I didn’t see it and when I first saw the trailer, I knew I couldn’t take the movie seriously, all i saw was a big city on wheels with a revenge plot, nothing that truly excited me or even sounded like a good movie. After I did my research I found out that it was a book way back in 2001, and that is part of the problem.
We all understand that Hollywood is running out of its own ideas so they are diving into the books, in some cases it proves to be a good move but in other and more cases it is not a good idea because what people love in a book they won’t pay to go see it and this is one reason why the movie failed. The next reason is that the book came out in 2001 and I am sure it was good book and what not but the fan base clearly moved on and or just forgot about it. I would expect better from Peter Jackson but I guess not. Next reason was the fact it was going up against The Mule and Spider-Man. Each movie had their own fanbase that took viewers away from Mortal Engine. Then Lastly was the reviews, this movie was already doomed before the critics watched it and all they did was bury it, the best reviews came mostly from the visual effects and that was it.
The movie could end up taking a loss of 50 to 100 million. The budget was anywhere between 100=150 million dollars. It’s opening domestic box office performance was 7.5 million and worldwide currently sits at 43 million. Insiders predidcted a flop and thought it would gross between 10-13 million and it failed to even that. It currently sitting in fifth place and I doubt that it will stay there because BumbleBee and AquaMan are opening this up coming weekend.
Look I don’t think when people are picking idea from books, they need to be a little smarter with what ideas they pick and put a big budget film together. The idea needs to be thought carefully but i am sure no one will listen and just go with what they think will work. Well in this case it did not.
